Taoisme merupakan agama yang sudah ada sejak ribuan tahun, lebih tua dari buddhisme dan hinduisme. Taoisme menjadi agama yang diyakini secara turun temurun dan dipegang kuat oleh masyarakat China. Buddhisme masuk ke negara China untuk menyebarluaskan agama bukan masalah yang mudah. Buddhisme harus mampu mengadaptasikan ajaran Buddha terhadap Taoisme. Bertujuan agar Buddhisme dapat diterima oleh masyarakat China. Bahkan Buddhisme harus menambahkan suatu kitab dan menyamakan dewa-dewa dengan Taoisme. Konsep karma yang diajarkan Buddhisme diadaptasikan kepada konsep Taoisme. “Buddhist karma was adapted to Taoism”. Bahwa konsep Buddhisme mengenai karma tidak sejalan denga Taoisme. Taoisme menyatakan bahwa didalam kehidupan setelah kematian terdapat dewa yang mencatat perbuatan manusia. “In heaven there are spirits that take  account of man’s transgressions, and, according to the lightness or gravity of their offences, take away from their term of life”. Segala tindakan manusia yang baik dan buruk dicatat oleh dewa dari masa kelahiran sampai ajal menjemput. Hukuman tergantung dari tindakan jahat yang disesuaikan dengan berat atau tidaknya pelanggaran yang dilakukan. Bahkan, terdapat buku tindak pidana oleh para dewa.

Konsep Buddhisme dalam Negara China apabila dipandang dari ajaran Sang Buddha sendiri tidak sesuai. Meskipun Buddhisme menjelaskan di Alam Dewa terdapat kerajaan atau pemerintahan yang dipimpin oleh dewa. Sang Buddha tidak menjelaskan para dewa melakukan penghukuman terhadap orang yang melakukan kesalahan. Hukuman kepada mahkluk diatur oleh hukum alam (kamma niyama). Begitu juga dengan neraka, tidak ada yang namanya penjaga neraka dan raja alam neraka yang menghukum mahkluk di neraka.

 Taoism is a religion that has existed since thousands of years older than Buddhism and Hinduism. Taoism was the religion which is believed to be hereditary and strongly held by the people of hina. Buddhisme entered China to spread the religion of the country is not an easy problem. Buddhism should be able to adapt Buddhism to Taoism. Buddhism aims to be acepted by the people of China. Buddhism even have to add a book and equalize with the Taoist gods. Buddhism teaches the concept of karma is adapted to the oncepts of Taoism. "Buddhist karma was adapted to taoism". That the Buddhist onept of karma is inconsistent premises Taoism. Taoism suggests that in life after death there is a god that reord human actions. "In heaven there are spirit that take acount of man's transgressions and according to the lightness or gravity of their offeness, take away their term of life". All human action is good and bad times recorded by the gods from birth until death. The penalty depends on the actions of evil or not adapted to severe violations. In fact, there is a crime book by the gods.

The concept of Buddhism in China the country is seen from the teaching of the Buddha him self did not fit. Although Buddhism are explained in the Nature Gods Kingdom or a goverment led by the gods. The Buddha did not say the gods make the punisment of these who make mistakes. penalty to the creature governed by the laws of nature (Panca Niyama). So is the hell, there's no such thing as hell, and the king's guards to punish hell beings in hell.
